About the Stanford List and its methodology
The study is based on a data extract from the Scopus database (August 2025) referring to the 2024 citation year. Using indicators such as citations, h-index and author position in publications, a database was compiled identifying the top 2% of researchers with the highest citation impact. This database was first developed in 2019 by John P. A. Ioannidis (Stanford University) and is updated annually.
