Save the date: Moving Towards a Shared Responsibility Model of Global Labour Governance

We are happy to invite you to a public keynote lecture by Dr. Sanchita Banerjee Saxena (UC Berkeley Center for Law and Business) on June 11, followed by a panel discussion with experts from business and rightsholder communities, including representatives from the Competence Centre for Human Rights Due Diligence.

The event is organized by PhD candidates from the International Doctorate’s Program on Business and Human Rights (IDP BHR) in partnership with the FAU Research Center for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU CHREN).

Dr. Saxena’s keynote will draw on her forthcoming book chapter, which examines the partnership model as a key dimension of global labour governance. Her work provides critical insights into how collaborative approaches can strengthen accountability and equity in global supply chains.

Dr. Sanchita Banerjee Saxena is a leading scholar in the field of Business and Human Rights (BHR), working at the intersection of social sciences, policy, and corporate practice. She currently serves as Academic Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law and Business and Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE), UC Berkeley.

She was recently appointed Vice Chair of the Standards Committee for the Green Button (Grüner Knopf) initiative, advising the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on the revision of its certification scheme for sustainable textiles.

Following the keynote, a panel discussion will bring together perspectives from academia and business organizations to reflect on current challenges and emerging approaches in human rights due diligence.

Further speakers will be announced soon.

The event is free and open to the public, register here to participate
