Last week, the Chair of International Business, Society and Sustainability had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Sanchita Saxena. During her visit, members of the Chair presented their ongoing research and engaged in an exchange with Dr. Saxena regarding her academic and professional experiences in both academia and the private sector. During the discussion we identified many synergies between the research activities of the Chair and Dr. Saxena’s work, as well as promising opportunities for future collaboration.
Over the following two days, two events were held at the FAU CHREN Center for Human Rights Erlangen-Nürnberg. On June 10, Dr. Saxena led an engaging workshop titled “From Consultation to Meaningful Engagement: Global South Shaping HRDD Research and Practice.” The session highlighted practical examples of meaningful stakeholder engagement, both within and beyond academia. It also provided a platform for researchers to present and discuss a range of business and human rights–related topics.
On June 11, Dr. Saxena delivered a keynote lecture, “Moving Towards a Shared Responsibility Model of Global Labour Governance,” presenting insights from her latest research on brand–supplier partnerships in the apparel industry. The subsequent panel discussion featured Dr. Rubana Huq, Vice Chancellor of the Asian University for Women, and Ingrid Elbertse, Policy and Advocacy Officer at the Fair Wear Foundation, who contributed critical perspectives from supplier and multi-stakeholder viewpoints. The session was moderated by Dr. Caroline Lichuma, postdoctoral researcher at FAU CHREN.
We are very grateful to our colleagues from the chair, Adiba Afros and Dr. Almut Schilling-Vacaflor, who worked on organizing this visit, and to the FAU CHREN for their support.
